I have read the statement "Its About Justice," and support your efforts to obtain fair, just treatment from Laidlaw. I Wish to send notification communicating this support to Laidlaw management, the President of the San Francisco Unified School District, and the President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Please Keep me informed of the progress of your negotiations.
To: Mike Griffus, Regional Vice President, Laidlaw Inc.
Dear Mr. Griffus: I have read the statement of UTU Local 1741, "It's About Justice" and support their efforts to obtain a fair and just contract with Laidlaw, their employer. I have written the Presidents of San Francisco Unified School District and the San Francisco Board of Supervisor expressing my concern as a community member, voter and tax payer regarding these issues. I hope you resolve this matter in a just and fair manner. If you have anything about this matter that you would like to send me, I am interested in hearing your point of view regarding the concerns employees have presented to management.
To: Tom Ammiano, President, San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
Dear Supervisor Ammiano: I have read the statement by the San Francisco Unified School District's bus drivers, "It's About Justice," and support their efforts to obtain a just and fair contract from their employer, the Laidlaw Corporation. While I understand the Laidlaw contract is with the SF Unified School District, I am concerned about fair treatment for workers in San Francisco. Should Laidlaw and the union be unable to reach a mutually acceptable contract settlement, I urge you to take appropriate steps to assure that Laidlaw employees receive the full measure of justice, fairness, dignity, and respect they deserve.
To: San Francisco Unified School District.
Dear President Owens and Board Members: I have read the statement by the San Francisco Unified School District's bus drivers, "It's About Justice," and support their efforts to obtain a just and fair contract from their employer, the Laidlaw Corporation. Since Laidlaw Inc. operates under contract with SFUSD, I am concerned as a voter, tax payer and community member that public funds not be spent on a company that is unfair to its workers. If a mutually satisfactory agreement is not negotiated between Laidlaw and its employees, I urge the Board to take steps to ensure that a just and fair contract is reached between Laidlaw and UTU.
